As an English Teacher in Japan, I designed uniform classroom materials, using colors and illustrations to promote understanding and engagement.
英語のクラスのために、いろんな資料をデザインをした。
During class I used place markers to maintain social distancing and order. Each child was given a nametag, as well as a chip (Numbers for the 4 year olds, and Animals for the 5 year olds). The chips were used to randomly assign seats as the kids would match the number or animal to the spot.
席はくじ引きに決め(4歳は番号、5歳は動物)。「お名前は？」のレッスンに名札を使用。
I built lesson plans for all the classes (3-6 year olds). There was no textbook for either the Preschool or Elementary school, so I descided on topics I though would be most useful. Topic groups are organized by color, which match the Resources guide, and individual lesson plans.

A4 Flashcards were made and used for introducing vocabulary as well as games. For these I designed the Illustrations as well.

For Christmas I designed a Santa letter to reply to the children. Weeks prior to Christmas I had the kids write/draw what they wanted from Santa and place it in a box. The Preschool arranged for a 'Santa' to come and give small treats to the children.

For the Graduation 6 year olds (Preschool to Elementary school), I designed Graduations Cards and made a Lei for each child.
卒業式のために卒業証明書と紙の花のレイを作りました。
Language is used everywhere, Verbally, Books, Games, Movies, Music. You learn language when language is alive. When you see the context it's used in and the emotional impact is has on those speaking and hearing it. Children learn not a few words at a time but a lot of words little by little. Starting with listening comprehension and moving up to increasing speaking abilities. To make learning fun, not only increases retention, but also stimulates self motivated learning.
